GOAL RUSH SOCCER ACADEMY - DALLAS, TEXAS - EST 2010

Walker’s soccer career began at age 5 in a rec league in Dallas, TX. He was soon recruited by Coach Joseph Burch to play on his youth team called Goal Rush. For the next several years, he improved his game through private lessons with Coach Joseph, the team practices and playing 3v3 and 4v4 tournaments as well as 5v5 indoor games of futsal during the winter months. He developed a feeling of teamwork along with good sportsmanship and a love for the game while he was a member of Goal Rush.

Fast forward 10 years later and Walker is now playing at a high level in Atlanta, GA, as a member of the Concorde Fire ECNL Platinum 2010 boys club. His club has won the Southeast Conference of ECNL for the past four seasons with a league, showcase, tournament and playoff record of 149-17-23! The boys made it to the final four out of 165 teams nationwide the past two seasons! This year as a freshman, Walker made his Roswell, GA high school’s varsity team as a starter. Playing Center Mid, he leads the region in assists, steals and in minutes played!

None of this success happens without hard work, dedication, talent and a love of the game! Walker was fortunate to start his soccer journey with Coach Joseph Burch in Dallas, TX, at the ripe age of 5! Coach Joseph taught him the skills/techniques of the game coupled with hard work, practice and dedication which contributed to Walker’s confidence and ability to play at this level as a 15 year old!

joseph and I have worked together on numerous occasions. I first met Joseph at a week-long soccer camp we coached together at the White Rock YMCA. He first caught my attention with his unique ability to spot patterns. Joseph has traveled to 30+ countries which gives him a rare perspective. He uses this perspective to identify patterns in the game and the players. This is especially beneficial for younger players because they get this understanding from the beginning. In other words, he streamlines the process compared to other coaches who teach unnecessary skills at the wrong time developmentally.

He is a real student of the game, catches on very quickly, and is passionate about soccer. His passion and motivation for teaching soccer are all about the children. When he steps onto the field it is like the outside world washes away and his instincts as a soccer coach take over. He is a born leader who is adept at finding ways to connect with the players even the ones who are less than willing to participate. Altogether, I spent 4 weeks mentoring and working with him in person, and we continue communication via phone and email. His growth has been amazing; not necessarily his soccer skills per say, but his ability to teach soccer to the younger children.

As a teen, he played soccer in the North Texas Classic League from 1991-1998, then moved on to play at the NCAA Division 1 / 2 collegiate level at Regis University (red shirt), and now plays in the NTPSA in the open division. Notwithstanding, he is still working on his game which means his training sessions will be current with today’s game and challenging.

Joseph has been working with my 10 year old and 5 year old boys for two months now (private lessons 2x a week).

What makes him an outstanding instructor is he knows how to harness a child's natural abilities.

Since working with Joe, my eldest son is considerably stronger, faster and his skills have improved out of sight. The most pleasing thing is to see him use these skills during a match as a result of the confidence boost. Prior to working with Joseph, he would have trouble passing an opposition player. Now he consistently weaves his way through 2 or 3 players at a time and gets closely marked. My 10 year old is being recruited to tryout for higher level club teams. He has never played academy, just rec. Joseph has been his only professional coach.

We're very excited at his progress and look forward to seeing his rapid development continue.

We have been working with him for 4 months and my daughter, Nathalia, has benefited greatly. He is patient, knowledgeable about soccer, and very energetic. He has a passion for teaching youth the game that he loves. He is highly recommended!!!
